W.S. DeWitt Gantz officially began her career in northeastern Pennsylvania at the age of 18 when she painted a larger than life size portrait of world boxing champion Muhammad Ali for art class in high school. Subsequently, Ali was shown the painting, loved it and arranged for her to present it to him in the boxing ring prior to an exhibition fight he was having in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He was later heard remarking on The Tonight Show, that it was the best likeness of him that had ever been done.

At present, W.S. DeWitt Gantz holds the fine art positions of sculptor, modelmaker, wax chaser, and painter at The Elliot Gantz & Co., Inc Bronze Foundry in Farmingdale, New York. Possessing fine technical skills, performing quality work, having an eye for detail and reproduction, has gained Ms. DeWitt Gantz commissioned works and the sales of personally executed bronze sculptures.

With her years of experience working with Elliot Gantz & Co., Inc., she has gone on to include among her skills and talents: the completion of a number of finished bronze sculptures and portraits via commissions for private collections, (see list on 'Collectors' page); the enlargement or reduction of existing sculptures for notable artists including Enrico Donati, Arbid Blatas, producer/director Blake Edwards and other well known artists; model making using mediums such as clay, foam, plaster and spackling in preparation for bronzecasting; reconstruction and repair of damaged sculptures for various clients.

Her educational background includes Keystone Junior College, La Plume, PA., The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Ft. Lauderdale, FL., and Parsons School of Design, NY. In retrospect, Ms. DeWitt Gantz will be the first to tell you that the majority of her fine art education came with the 'hands on experience' afforded her by the Elliot Gantz Company.

Her career goals are to continue obtaining commissioned works with a view to one day greatly expanding her personally unique line of sculptures.

Residing in NY, she continues to enjoy a successful career as an accomplished artist and head sculptor of Elliot Gantz & Co., Inc.
